WYR Productions

Founded by Jenna in 2018, WYR Productions is a Toronto based independent film company championing female-identified and emerging voices in front of and behind the camera.

The 2024/2025 festival season has proved to be a busy one for WYR Productions with the premiere of two short films, Uncomfy and Over the Edge! Over the Edge premiered at the Kingston International Film Festival and Uncomfy premiered at I+N Festival Courts Queer Film Festival.

Over the Edge was made with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts and follows Em who just wants to get home after a really hard day but is pushed too far on her commute and snaps. It was made with an all female and non-binary identifying crew and went on to screen at the City of Angels Film Festival where it was awarded the Best Female Protagonist award!

Uncomfy is the first film from WYR Productions that Jenna starred in her own work! Directed by the incredible Jessica Hinkson, it follows Tanis, a woman in a comfortable, heteronormative relationship as she reaches out to an escort to explore her queer side in a quest to answer the age-old question, “Am I missing out on something?”

The second film from WYR Productions, The Breakup, is a short film about a lifelong friendship of two women that is pushed to the brink when one of them gets engaged.  Starring Alana Pancyr and Julia Dyan with Noah Lamanna, The Breakup was made with an all-female and non-binary identifying cast and crew and premiered at the tenth anniversary edition of the Chelsea Film Festival in NYC! It finished its successful festival run by winning the Acting Award at the Deep Cut Film Festival.

The first film from Jenna Harder is a darkly comedic look at the day in the life of a struggling actor and the unique ways that she copes with the pressures of the industry.  Starring the fantastic Clare Blackwood, Whenever You’re Ready had its world premiere with the Kingston Canadian Film Festival and was shortlisted for the Jury Award.  It was recently featured as a part of the Lift-Off Network’s First-Time Filmmaker Sessions.  It will be screening in New York City this summer as an official selection of the Last Shot Film Festival and is now available to stream here
